Former City of Kanata, is now part of the City of Ottawa. Ottawa has steadily become a very strong sporting community, with a variety of professional teams in action, playing at varying times of the year. The Ottawa Senators, members of the National Hockey League, are currently in their 12th year of operation on the ice. Ottawa is welcoming back with open arms Canadian Professional Football, with the newly formed Ottawa Renegades. As well, the city plays host to professional baseball, soccer and lacrosse.

While the city is proud to be able to offer professional sports, we are equally as proud to offer a wide variety of amateur sporting programs not only to its residents, but to visitors to the city as well. While our professional teams such as the Senators have a strong attendance base, teams such as the Ottawa 67's have recently set attendance records for minor teams in North America. In addition, the city hosts major tournaments such as the Ottawa International Hockey Festival, which recently concluded its third annual event with over 3500 participants at the 'Atom' (10-11 year old) level.

Ottawa / Kanata has a significant number of quality sport facilities that cater to hockey, curling, soccer, lacrosse, football, tennis, swimming, skiing, rugby, to name a few. This is a world class sport tourism city.
